Markets open choppy despite government's assurance on NBFCs

Sensex and Nifty were down close to half a per cent each in Monday's early trading. Earlier, before the markets opened, finance minister Arun Jaitley sought to soothe the volatility in the markets by assuring the government will ensure liquidity in non-banking finance companies and mutual funds.
